José Luis Carreras

José Luis Carreras was born in Argentina. He is a musician, harmonica player specializing in the chromatic harmonica, and composer. His performances focus on Argentine folk music, as well as Latin American music. He also plays Argentine tango and music by the great Astor Piazzolla. He began studying diatonic harmonica with César Valdomir, a prominent Argentine teacher and harmonica player. After four years of study, he dedicated himself fully to the study of the chromatic harmonica, always self-taught, until 2024, when he took classes with Antonio Serrano. He studied improvisation with Mariano Loiacono, Alejandro Demogli, Nicolás Mazza, and Marcelo Moguilevsky. He studied functional harmony with Juan Presas and is currently studying musical composition with Maestro Gustavo De Leonardis. During 2025, he is working on his first album, composed primarily of his own compositions. He has participated in Argentine folklore festivals and performed Piazzolla's music in national museums, celebrating the centenary of Astor Piazzolla's birth in 2021. He has participated in shows honoring Brazilian music, where he performed choros and bossa nova from Brazil. He has also participated in international harmonica festivals, held in Argentina and another in Lima, Peru.
