Heading; The little engine that could - did- and does. (From the CSA magazine)
When he was a little nipper, Mo Vint's favorite children's book was probably "The little engine that could". Because today he and his traveling companion, MoTrain, as he affectionately calls his train, continually prove that there really is a little engine that could - and does - all over America. You've probably seen this inseparable team.
At the Snowbird Extravaganza in Tampa or the California Fair, or Myrtle Beach or Steamtown Mall. or maybe closer to home at the Great Canadian Maturity shows, or in St. Catherine's, or Elliott Lake, or Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. The two of them, Mo with his simply astounding collection of one inch to two ft. harmonicas and dressed up in his train conductors uniform , and MoTrain with her own "steam" plant and sophisticated sound system, travel North America thrilling youngsters and oldsters alike with a myriad of musical renditions of golden oldies and nifty new’ies. Add some humorous stories, a little bit of magic and Mo's favorite ditties, Rubber Ducky and Itsy Bitsy Spider to the great old favorites, Orange Blossom Special, Sentimental Journey, Chicago and New York, New York and you've got yourself a heck of a good time. If you were a fan of the Juliet show, The Tommy Hunter Show or the Ray St. Germaine show, you will have seen Mo Vint. He was one of the three Reeds which toured all over Ontario an the Maritimes in those good old days. After the group went their separate ways in 1974 Mo and Don Les of the famous “HARMONICATS” of “Peg"O" my Heart” fame, formed a duo which lasted for 10 years. and then came Mo's new partner, the MoTrain. Mo, who is considered one of North America's premier harmonica virtuosos, knew he would become a professional harmonica player ever since he was ten years old when his brother brought home a Larry Adler record. He had been Blowing Harmonica since he was five and found his first one in a Cracker Jack Box. It makes you wonder how many kids became doctors because they got their first stethoscope in this famous confection.
